What's Been Happening

Right, So here we go... With the season fast approaching we thought it would be a good idea to keep you up to date with what’s happening here at Woodstock.

With our website now live we have received some great feedback about the quality of the look and feel of it which we are delighted with. Orders are pouring in and it certainly looks like this year could be a very good year for Woodstock. We have distributors in Australia, Canada and Zimbabwe with new distributors in New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark and Singapore joining the company in the near future. The business is also steadily growing in the UK pre season and we expect a healthy business pattern throughout the season with our five first class players in the English county circuit gaining us some fantastic exposure.

Talking of our first class players, One of the Woodstock team was lucky enough to spend some time at The Kia Oval this week with the lads on their return to pre season training. In between sprint tests and bleep tests we managed to have a catch up with our three boys. Two of our lads spent time in Australia playing club cricket before returning home recently to re join up with Surrey.

Matt Spriegel who spent some time playing in Perth said “ It was great to spend some time out in Australia playing competitive cricket rather than just netting everyday, I feel the experience has been good for me and I approach the English season full of confidence and raring to go” Tim Linley who spent time in Melbourne added “Getting a lot of overs under my belt has been great and also getting the chance to spend some time in the middle with the bat has been fantastic preparation for the season. I can’t wait to get into it and it’s great to be back at The Kia Oval with the rest of the lads”. Rory Burns did not go away over the winter, choosing to spend time working hard with the coaching staff at Surrey in prep for what will be his first season as a professional.. He said “It’s been hard work but very rewarding now that I am beginning to see the benefits of the hours and hours of work that I have put in over the winter. Hopefully I can carry this out into the middle and by scoring runs and holding catches I can make myself a serious contender for the glove mans spot on a regular basis”.

Warwickshire have gone away on their pre season tour and so Steffan and Richard were unavailable for comment whilst bag packing but assured us we can have a chat with them on their return!!

So, In summary, exciting times for Woodstock Cricket Co and all cricketers throughout the UK as the season fast approaches. Train hard, Net harder and make sure you find your warmest jumper! The first game is always going to be a cold one!!
